Great Ayton Twinning Association "Ninety miles from the capital, through the forest of Orléans and just before the banks of the Loire, you will find our twinned village of Ouzouer-sur-Loire ..."
Great Ayton History Society record information is made available to a wider audience through public presentations and exhibitions, guided walks and publications. The group meets on alternate Wednesdays from 9:30am in the Friends’ Meeting House on Great Ayton High Green. Everybody is welcome should they be interested in increasing their knowledge of local history in the area.
More information can be obtained from Ian Pearce.
The Great Ayton Cricket and Football Club has its grounds to the south of the village which can be approached by footpath from either Waterfall Park or Easby Lane. The club offers opportunity for players and spectators to enjoy the games in summer and winter.
Great Ayton and Stokesley Fairtrade Steering Committee. Having achieved Fairtrade status for both Great Ayton and Stokesley in recent years, this group works to continue to fulfil the requirements for the status by encouraging local people and businesses to use Fairtrade products. We promote Fairtrade at events such as the Great Ayton Village Fair and the Guisborough Forest Festiival, and organise and support events during the annual Fairtrade Fortnight, including coffee mornings and a promotional stall in Stokesley Co-op. Two of our members are Traidcraft traders and hold regular events to sell their ethically produced food and gifts. We are supported by both Great Ayton and Stokesley Parish Councils. We are a small group and would welcome more members.
Brighten Up Great Ayton The Brighten Up Great Ayton group meets most Thursday afternoons, outside the Village Hall, at 2.00pm (weather permitting) and on other days when extra planting is undertaken. Depending on the work needed, we may go to work at the Cook Family Memorial Garden, Chapel Steps or Waterfall Park. See the sign on the railings to find out where we are.
Great Ayton Dramatic Society Great Ayton Dramatic Society, often shortened to GADS, has been entertaining the village since 1932 and we still perform in the same Hall. We are a friendly society who will endeavour to find and nurture the skills and talents you have.
